About
The purpose of the NPTalk community is to connect and empower leaders looking for ways to advance nonprofit missions with new technologies. We are committed to building a community that is open to discussion, growth and innovation. Our mission is to push the envelope on innovation, creative, cutting edge solutions, approaches and ideas to help nonprofits meet the challenges presented in this new economy.
The NPtalk community evolved from a simple conversation on Twitter in April 2010. That conversation about online fundraising grew into an ongoing chat on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month called #NPtalk. The chat continues to grow with participants from around the world and it has led to the thriving online NPtalk community with a Facebook Page, Blog, LinkedIn group, enews and of course our Twitter chat. We will be adding a free membership site to the mix to give people a place to continue the conversation weekly in a more private session – so stay tuned.
Make sure to stay in the loop with what is happening in our community by signing up for our enews!
Nicole Harrison – Founder and Moderator of #NPtalk
Nicole spent almost a decade working in nonprofits in roles such as programs, marketing, fundraising and administration. During this time she developed a passion for digital communications and discovered the power of social media. She honed her experience working as a digital strategist Mark Dayton’s 2010 successful gubernatorial campaign. SocialNicole Online Marketing was born from these experiences. Nicole now works with companies helping them to connect, engage and grow through social media, social web and social business consulting.
In her spare time Nicole supports the “First Astronaut on Mars” career aspirations of her teen-age daughter, Astronaut Abby and caters to the whims of her canine companions, Pippin and Lucy.
Lauren Bubser – Community Manager for #NPtalk
As the social media community manager for SocialNicole Online Marketing‘s turn-key social media clients, Lauren is not a stranger to community management. She recently has taken the role of community manager for #NPtalk and will oversee the multiple social media channels as well as manage the popular NPtalk blog – including scheduling guests, etc.
While studying at Iowa State University, Lauren was able to take numerous classes that opened her eyes to various sides of Marketing. She found she has a passion for Inbound Marketing and specifically working with clients to build lasting relationships online. She enjoys watching watching a community grow and sharing the power of social media and online communication with clients.
In her spare time she enjoys cheering on the Cyclones during football season, bringing new life to garage sale “junk”, heading to the movie theater to watch practically any film, scouring the Mall of America for a good deal and exploring all that the Twin Cities has to offer!
